Andy Millman (Ricky Gervais) is a struggling actor with ambition and a script. Darren Lamb (Stephen Merchant) is Andy's useless agent and Maggie (Ashley Jensen) is his air-headed best friend.
After selling his television comedy script, things are looking up for Andy. But his dreams of becoming a respected actor are quickly demolished and Andy must claw back what little self-respect he can, as he realized that celebrity doesn't necessarily mean happiness - it just means your follies and fauxes-pas get that much more attention.
