Combining uncompromising historical accuracy with compelling, character-driven murder mysteries, this enormously popular and award-winning British series has won unqualified critical praise and undying viewer loyalty since its premiere on ITV in the U.K. in October 2002 and PBS in February 2003. Returning for a three-episode encore,Foyle’s War stars Michael Kitchen as DCS Christopher Foyle, a police investigator in the British coastal community of Hastings. In the immediate aftermath of World War II, Foyle finds his longed-for retirement interrupted by cases involving international intrigue, military racism, and an accused traitor all too willing to go to the gallows. The series co-stars Anthony Howell and Honeysuckle Weeks, and features Tim Pigott-Smith, Max Brown, Christopher Good, Charlotte Riley, Sam Spruell, Andrew Scott, David Yelland, and Anastasia Hille. Foyle’s Warwas created by Anthony Horowitz(Poirot, Midsomer Murders). The three mysteries included in Set 6, set sequentially in the summer of 1945, are: "The Russian House," in which Foyle tracks an escaped Russian POW at the behest of British intelligence, and becomes involved in a murder investigation conducted by his former subordinate, DI Paul Milner -- a situation threatening not only their already strained relationship, but also Foyle’s life; "Killing Time," wherein African-American GIs await their return Stateside, and racial tensions, jealousy, and greed combine to create a potentially explosive situation in Hastings; and "The Hide," which finds DI Milner investigating the murder of a young woman in Brighton, and Foyle probing the motives of an accused traitor who refuses to defend himself.
