It's all a mater of taste!
In this rumbustious romantic comedy set in early 20th century London, naïve artist Kingdom Swann (Billy Connolly) is depressed and unable to work when a leading gallery rejects his "old-fashioned" paintings. It is only the gift of a camera from his devoted housekeeper Violet (Sarah Lancashire) that prevents him from giving up altogether.
Forging a new career in photography, his unscrupulous assistant, Cromwell Marsh (Douglas Henshall), encourages Swann to apply his artistic flair in ever more lavish portraits of nudes in classical settings. However, behind Swann's back, the crafty March schemes to get filthy rich by selecting the most risqué sections of the photos and secretly selling them to the specialist mean's magazine, Gentlemen's Relish, thus landing the innocent Swann directly in the spotlight of scornful notoriety!
