The first Remembrance Day was conducted in 1919 throughout the Commonwealth which was originally called Armistice Day and commemorated the end of the First World War (Monday, November 11th, 1918 at 11 a.m). In 1931, after continuous representations by the Canadian Legion, M.P Allan Neil introduced a bill to hold Armistice Day on a fixed day- November 11th. During the bill's introduction, it was decided the word "Remembrance" would be used instead of "Armistice". The bill passed and Remembrance Day was conducted on November 11th and Thanksgiving Day was moved to October 12th that year. This DVD commemorates the 75th year the bill was passed and it pays homage to the Canadian men and women who died in the First & Second World Wars as well as the Korean War.
