As the evening advances and a floodlit Edinburgh Castle looms above, the foot-tapping audience joins hands for "Auld Lang Syne". Fireworks and cheering erupt. There is no doubt that everyone involved has had a good time. This is one `auld lang syne' that will not `be forgot'.

Involved is the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra, joyfully wending its way through some of the vast repertoire of Scottish jigs, reels and schottisches. The stirring and beautiful vocal work is provided by Caledon, three of Scotland's finest tenors.

Having Scottish ancestors myself, I was at first prepared to believe that this splendid DVD wouldn't get many people's genes tingling the way it got mine. Not so! It was an Indonesian-born Chinese gentleman who bought and lent me the DVD and prompted me to recommend it unreservedly to everyone of every age. John Austin
