Miss Forrest - James sends the servants into an uproar when he invites his father's secretary, Miss Forrest, to lunch with him. A House Divided - With the death of his wife, Richard Bellamy increasingly relies on his secretary, Miss Forrest, to help run the household. The servants chafe at this, but Richard is too caught up in his grief to notice the tension.
A Family Secret - James finally proposes to Miss Forrest, but her refusal leads James to think his father had something to do with it. In fact, she is afraid that an incident from her past would shock the Bellamys.
Disc Two
Rose's Pigeon - Alfred, a former servant who was fired in disgrace, knocks on the back door one night. Despite his past, Rose allows him to stay. Word of Honour - Scandal descends on the Bellamys when Richard is accused of improper stock trading by a fellow MP. His insistence that he is innocent and his refusal to name the friend who gave him the tip only make things worse. Finally, it is left to James' new wife, Hazel Forrest, to engineer a solution to the crisis.
Disc Three

But young Georgina's disregard for the difference in station between servants and ladies causes problems. When she undertakes a mission to help her maid's poverty-stricken family, they narrowly escape disaster.
What the Footman Saw - A casual remark by Edward, the Bellamys' footman, is overheard in a Belgravia pub and soon explodes into a scandal that threatens the strength of the Tory constituency in Parliament. Dismayed at his household's role in the trouble, Richard works to resolve the crisis.
Disc Four
A Perfect Stranger - Rose is caught up in a whirlwind romance with a stranger she met on a tram and announces her impetuous decision to marry him and follow him to Australia. But as the time nears, she sensibly has second thoughts and invents a story so she can preserve her dignity, yet remain at Eaton Place.
Distant Thunder - The differences in age, character, and background between James and Hazel start to take a toll on their relationship, and when she suffers a miscarriage, their marriage faces a crisis. While Richard's sympathy and understanding prove invaluable to Hazel, his help is seen as interference by James, who erupts at his father in a fit of anger.
The Sudden Storm - It is July 1914, and war looms.
