From 1944 to 1945, American troops are fighting their way through the Phillippines to conquer Manila. During the Tokyo air strikes in 1945, the city is almost razed to the ground. However, the Japanese do not surrender until the Americans drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
